“I had read about the university’s reputation and it seemed to be the best
place for living because it has a clean and beautiful environment with good
weather - lots of sun. It is very multicultural and Dunedin people are friendly
and communicative. They are ready to help everyone. I thought it was
because of the amazing environment that people are so nice. In this unique
country people are happy and I feel comfortable.
When I first came to the Language Centre I felt like I was on another planet,
but the education system is very good. Teachers are well educated and they
know how to communicate with different cultures and know about different
countries. In fact one has a PhD in Russian. Everyone in the class is made to
feel important. Our teachers enjoy their jobs.

I am looking forward to going to the university where I will meet New Zealand students and learn more about Kiwi culture. Clubs and Societies is wonderful, you can join so many different clubs. The tramping club is my favourite. There is an amazing library. You can get resources from all over the world. It is a very comfortable place and easy to get information.
The best place to live is the South Island because of the beautiful views. Dunedin is well known as a student city. I think it is great as you can concentrate on your study. I was surprised to find many art galleries and museums, as I thought New
Zealand was a new country. I think it is unique to learn about Maori culture and language and the Pacific region. I like that there are many British people – so its like being in England or Scotland – it is a great opportunity to learn English yet there are interesting Maori, Pacific Island and Asian cultures too. There is a good concentration of people here.
Food is nutritious with good quality seafood. There are many fresh vegetables andyou can have whatever you want in terms of different cuisine. The milk and cheese is the best in the world!”
